"The Ardian data ambition" : The testimonial

« The Ardian data ambition » : The testimonial

Vincent JOLY, Ardian Chief Information Officer is driving the « IS revolution » at Ardian.

We decided to build a “UDB” – Unique Data Base – which consolidates many sources of information (including Efront, Finance, Portfolio, …). We wanted this database built with standard technology, so we keep full control of this data. As well as this database we have a Business Intelligence tool used for building our standard and self-service reporting, and also for analyzing our data.
We are now much more reactive to the needs of our business user community because this architecture is under our control, easily adaptable and capable of supporting our constant demands for evolution.

What is the drive and the strategy behind your “IT Ramp up” initiative?

Ardian is growing year after year and has now US$72 billion of assets under management allocated through five different lines of business: Fund of Funds, Direct Funds, Infrastructure, Private Debt and Real Estate. All of these activities and investments translate into 1,500+ funds (Fund of Funds portfolio) and 150+ companies in our current direct portfolio, with these figures growing on a daily basis; This dynamic diversity is pushing us to develop our Information System in a very AGILE mode in order to deliver quick results.
Furthermore, we are expanding our presence with new geographies and cultures, requiring our applications to be easy to access for all our employees across the globe, while remaining secure.
We now have more and more data from various sources (Efront, CRM, Portfolio, monitoring, Finance, …), and we wanted to offer our users a platform for analyzing all their data, and producing all manner of reports.
Our business leaders always have varied requests which change over time as we operate in a versatile market and face ever more competition.
We are now much more reactive to the needs of our business user community because this architecture is under our control, easily adaptable and capable of supporting our constant demands for evolution.POLARYS has worked very closely with our internal team for building this UDB and they brought us all their expertise in Data Intelligence (loading data, modeling Data Warehouse and connecting BI solutions). The dual skills of their consultants (Functional Private Equity + IT expertise) helped us build an evolutive solution with the right technologies. This project is an example of successful teamwork, for which I’m exceedingly thankful.
We are now autonomous, and have all the internal tools at our disposal to respond to all requests for software updates, system updates, user requests, etc..

Today, what are the benefits for Ardian (if any)?

Our “clients” are happy and that’s the most important goal for any IT project.
